He has been featured in national publications including The New York Times, USA Today, U.S. News and World Report, Reader's Digest, and Today's Christian Woman.

In August 2000, he was inducted into the National Speakers Association's CPAE Speaker Hall of Fame. In 1999, he was the recipient of the Gold Medallion Book Award for writing excellence. In 1993, Inc. Magazine, Ernst & Young, and Merrill Lynch awarded him "Socially Responsible Entrepreneur of the Year."

He lives in California with his wife, Sandy, and daughter, Madeline.
